Sooner or later the earth will be filled with the Knowledge of the glory of God. Right now it may not be fully acknowledged, but someday soon it will! (Habakkuk 2:14) Due to either wrong teaching, church culture or fear, the church has vainly attempted to be the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world” but somehow avoid actually being in or among the REAL WORLD.
In an attempt to keep the people of God away from the influence of “the world”, the Church has tried to create an “alternative culture”, even another society where Christian music, Christian TV, Christian writing and art is segregated from the world. While the motive of creating this alternative is a desire to be holy, the end result is that a much smaller % of society is now effectively driving the narrative of our culture.
Whether we are “playing church” or escaping to Wal-Mart sized mega churches where we can avoid interaction and discipleship, our country and society sees very little of authentic Christian people in the REAL WORLD. Lance Wallnau says it only takes about 2.3% of the number in a segment of society like media, education, etc, to take control of that entire area of society. For example, the education system has been hijacked by extreme left-wing elements for years by systematically targeting and taking over professorships at the major institutions of learning.
Salt can’t flavor something hidden in the cupboard and light can’t affect the darkness if all it does is remain among other lights. Instead of being the salt of the earth and light of the world, the church has become a sub-standard sect of ineffective, immature Christians unaccustomed to persecution and unable to overcome adversity. We shouldn’t be surprised sinners do what they do. We must not be intimidated with the boldness of the godless and sinners. Atheism has been around forever! Ps 14:1
We must train ourselves and our churches not to escape the world but to invade it with God’s love, righteousness and wisdom. God’s wisdom is our secret weapon and is unable to be countered by the godless. Our main challenge is to not be afraid but to jump in, invade and engage the Real World.
