The Hero Generation “Hero generations are born after a spiritual awakening, during a time of individual pragmatism, self-reliance, and national (or sectional or ethnic) chauvinism. Heroes grow up as increasingly protected post-awakening children, come of age as the heroic young team-workers of a historical crisis, demonstrate hubris as energetic midlifers, and emerge as powerful elders attacked by another awakening. By virtue of this location in history, such generations tend to be remembered for their collective coming-of-age triumphs and their hubristic elder achievements. Their principle endowments are often in the domain of community, affluence, and technology. Their best-known historical leaders include Cotton Mather, “King” Carter, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan. These have been vigorous and rational institution builders. In midlife, all have been aggressive advocates of economic prosperity and public optimism, and all have maintained a reputation for civic energy and competence to the very ends of their lives. Examples among today’s living generations are the G.I.s (WWII) and now Millennials, born 1981 to 2004.” ( LifeCourse) It is Interesting that the themes of so many movies,TV and games since their birth is filled with heroes or superheroes in movies or shows like Hunger Games, Heroes, Superman,Call of Duty, X-Men,Batman,Avengers,etc.The sensitive creative ones have picked up on the calling of this group and are telling stories with the HERO themes. They have endured long periods of waiting for things that others before them got, “out of the gate.” I believe these are not here by accident but in God’s purpose and so it appears this generation may literally “save the world” ,just as the G I generation did and in a way we may not now be able to fathom.
“And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” Daniel 12:3 Because their idealism has been “put on hold” for so long due to life circumstances, there is a great need for a cause, something to believe in. When David delivered the supplies to his brothers at the Israeli battle line drawn with the Philistines, and saw they were being mocked by their champion,Goliath,he said,”Is there not a cause?”(1 Sam 17:29) In other words now here is something that is intolerable and must be fixed. This generation has giants to kill! God is not limited by your weakness if you allow Him access to make you strong in HIM! And God will use your weaknesses to make you strong and great in His power. 2 Cor 12:9- And He said to me, “ My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Here are 3 Millennial giants that this generation must kill: 1)DEBT- The answer is to come up with a plan & as you do it, believe for a supernatural debt-release like the woman Elisha commanded to pour her small amount of oil into bottles to pay her debt.(2 Kings 4:1-7)Much of these who were raised in adversity must realize the call to free others of the same! When you train going uphill with weights on ,when the weights are gone you will FLY up the hill. You are all going to get out of debt! It is God’s will. Pr 22:7-The rich rules over the poor and the borrower is the slave of the lender. Pr 21:5-The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, 2) DISTRACTION The way to kill this one is to get a vision ,a focus and don’t lose it!You can have your minds renewed(Rom 12:2) and also help others to think clearly! Choose to live a FOCUSED life. Just because it is EASY to get and stay distracted, don’t buy it. You can get free and stay free of the mental torment of comparison. It will either make you proud or depressed. Don’t compare. It’s hard to walk in peace when you are being pulled 10 ways at once. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you Isaiah 26:3 Fix your minds on things above! Col 3:2 FOCUS on the few things you need to do that day, that week, that month, that year. 3)Disappointment, Delay, Cynicism The answer to kill this giant is FAITH IN A BIG GOD! In the identity of the Milennial comes a God-given sense of heroism. Just like Luke Skywalker, who was trapped in a routine drab ranchers job on Tatooine,he always knew he had a special calling and purpose and in a matter of days, his whole life was changed. With this sense of heroism they have a desire to right wrongs and fix injustice and that’s why some are involved in fighting human sex trafficking, things like that. They need to be like Luke-waiting to be a JEDI! Mt 17:20-21- So Jesus said to them, “ Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘ Move from here to there, ’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Heb 6:11-12- And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. The last hero generation saved the world (WW2, Hitler, NAZIS). The Millennials have a HERO call to save this generation! |
