Pay Attention to Your Dreams!

Here are a few reasons why we should pay attention to our dreams…

God speaks to ALL men through their dreams.

Job 33: 14-18 – “Indeed God speaks once or twice, yet no one notices it. In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on men, while they slumber in their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,That He may turn man aside from his conduct, and keep man from pride; He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing over into Sheol.

God declared that He WOULD and did speak through dreams and visions in the Old Testament…

Num. 12:6 – And He said, “Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream”.

And in the New Testament.

Acts 2:17 – “And it shall come to pass in the last days,” says God, “I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams”.

God declares that He WILL COUNSEL us at night through our dreams.

Ps. 16:7 NASB – I will bless the Lord who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind (inner man) instructs me in the night.

Dreams call us to change and are a way God uses to He reveals Himself to mankind. There countless stories of God coming to visit Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist people and call them to repentance through dreams leading to salvation. One reason for dreams is to correct the course of our life, to turn man aside from his conduct, to keep man from pride and HELL!

God does very significant things WITHIN dreams. For example, He established the Abrahamic Covenant in a dream.

Gen. 15:12,13,18 – “And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him….and God said to Abram….In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying….”.

God grants supernatural gifts THROUGH dreams.

I Kings 3:5,9,12,15 – “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, “Ask what I shall give thee….” Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge Thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this Thy so great a people?” “…Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee….” And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream”.

God reveals the future through dreams. Daniel 7, Revelation.

We need to pay closer attention to what happens to us when we dream. God uses dreams as a method to communicate to man and especially to believers. Write down or capture your dreams as soon as you wake up as you will forget 90% within 10 minutes of waking!
